Ana Alexandrescu / Romania

I am 32 years old, from Bucharest, Romania, graduated Philosophy and Journalism and started street photography after attending “Francisc Mraz Poetic Photography School” in 2011-2012. Since then, it has become one of my main activities, together with writing. My works have been in numerous exhibitions in Romania and abroad. I take photo trips every year with the community created around the school and also mind about some personal photography projects. I am a member of the Bucharest Urban League of Photographers for the Balkans (BULB).

Creative statement – philosophy, approach, inspirations (up to 2.000 characters): Storytelling through photography is an introspective game – instead of trying to find the best suited words, you have to wonder into a maze of dozens of images and pick up the proper elements to recreate a feeling or a state of mind. Talking about myself, about my imaginary world through photographs, is like silently making a puzzle, carefully choosing tiny bits of the fantasy realm that is sealed in the prosaic around us.
